The Dronne is one of the treasured rivers of France, passing through some of the most beautiful villages in Périgord, with remote swimming beaches and secret camping spots in between. Aubeterre’s vast 8th-century underground church, its vaulted ceilings hewn out of the limestone by hand, is justifiably famous and the village also has a busy riverside beach scene.
